Summer Lovin'

Happy end of summer!

AUGUST NEWSLETTER

STARS & PHANTOMS News, extras, & updates.

Wow! I can’t believe that summer is coming to an end already. It seems like it went by so quickly (I feel like I’m saying that constantly now. Is time just getting faster, or is this just a part of getting old?!) I have (once again) procrastinated sending out this newsletter because I felt like I didn’t really have much to include, but looking back on my summer, I think I had a lot go on with my different projects, actually! And I’m excited to get to share all of these updates with you guys!

STAR EATERS NEWS

We are still in the beta reading phase, but I still have a few updates to share!

  • I completed an outline for the entire series! Honestly, that was probably the bulk of my summer. It was…a task. I did not realize how massive of a project it was to create chapter-by-chapter outlines of four books, but man, was it worth it! (As miserable as it is, I do think now that I am a plotter-truther.) I ended the outline at exactly 100 pages and with 47,340 words!

  • I began to draft some of book two! I am trying really hard to keep my drafting process looser this time around, because editing can (and should, for me, at least) come afterwards. I will share a fun book two sneak peek at the end of this newsletter!

  • The end of my beta period is anticipated to be mid-September, which means I will be able to begin revisions then! I am so incredibly grateful for my beta readers. They have left me comments that have had me in tears from laughing so hard, but they have also provided me with so much invaluable insight. Star Eaters is my baby, and I love it more than I can put into words, but I think that if there’s any real chance of it being a great series, it’ll be because of the beta readers that have guided and supported me. I love yeeh’all more than I can explain.

PHANTOMS WIP NEWS

Oh my God, something not Stars related!! After I finished the outline for Stars, I realized that I did need a small break from the Starsverse and so I yanked this bad boy back off of my shelf. I dusted it off, and there is some movement happening!

As a standalone novella, this story requires much less work on my part. I was very excited to take the vague idea that I had for the stories and take off runnin’ for the River, but (exactly like I did with Stars lol) I got beat up trying. Cerberus wouldn’t let me through. So, I am (you guessed it!) working on the outline for the book. Once I complete the outline, I will make some attempt to balance drafting this out while revising Stars. I am really excited to be back in this and cannot wait to share more of it with you!

I will hopefully have more to offer you guys from this WIP in the next newsletter. For now, I will leave you with this:

COMPS With A Vengeance x Song of Achilles
TROPES Loose interpretation of greek mythos, enemies to lovers, moon x mars lovers, black cat x even more feral black cat lovers, angst, smut, bisexual disasters, found family, mental illness recovery, morally gray characters, lgbtqia+, forced proximity, ghosts, anger, recovery.
DESCRIPTION When Aella Theodorou, girl turned ghost, finds herself trapped in her childhood home she finds that maybe being dead is actually worse than living, and as if being a stuck phantom isn't bad enough, she finds herself trapped with Kharon, Hades' esteemed ferryman and absolute bastard of a man. This story is a tale of healing, unexpected friendships, and love.

Star Eaters Book II Sneak Peek

After some time of walking, Hadeon's feet had begun to hurt and he'd relented to praying his way back to the castle.

Amelia was waiting on the bridge for him. Her hands were soft when they captured his face, but her eyes went hard and laser-focused as she looked him over for injuries.

"You stupid sod!" She cursed up a small storm when they'd made it back to his chambers and he'd peeled his uniform from his body and she'd seen the gaping wound that wound over his left shoulder after he had cleverly covered it with his capelet. He had hoped he would have made it to his bath and been given the chance to heal it before she'd seen it.

He put his hands on his hips, ignoring the pain lancing through said shoulder. "You get me naked and all you can call me is a sod? Moya mriya, you wound me."

He wasn't surprised at all when she thwacked him upside the back of the head and only told him to heal himself.

Hadeon sighed before rooting around in one of his many chests, finding himself a piece of clear quartz. He held onto it and focused. Softly, he murmured one of the many incantations he had memorized all of those years ago. He flinched as he felt the already scabbing skin of his shoulder tear open before it began to fuse itself closed.

"Now, go shower. You reek."

"Not without a kiss." He grinned and prayed to the stars above that she wouldn't see the exhaustion that he could feel in his face. Amelia already had enough worry to plague an entire nation. She didn't need Hadeon adding to that anymore than he already had.

She continued to glare at him with her dazzling seafoam-green eyes, but he could see the smile tugging at her full lips. "You're lucky that you're a handsome thing, even if you're smelly." The grin broke free from those lips then and she leaned onto her toes and let Hadeon's hands capture her face. His lips captured hers and for a moment, everything was okay. There was no war. His best friend wasn’t rotting away in his catatonia. Ággelos weren't being slaughtered left and right and his newest friend hadn't taken off like a bandit in the night.

With Amelia, everything was okay.

Where To Find Me

I will be staying on Twitter until it goes down entirely because I am too scatter-brained to manage so many social media accounts at once, but I will sometimes pop-up elsewhere and I’d love to find all of you there!
